Serious injuries reported after SUV goes off I-35 embankment

A driver and passenger had serious injuries after a crash on northbound I-35 near Cambridge on Friday afternoon.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Ford Escape was northbound on I-35 about 3:28 p.m. Friday when it left the roadway, went down an embankment, went airborne and then rolled onto its passenger side, coming to rest on the ramp from Cambridge to northbound I-35.

The driver, a 49-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, and the passenger, a 45-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, had possible serious injuries and were taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, according to the trooper’s report.

They were not wearing safety restraints, according to the trooper’s report.
