Wyandotte County Jail inmate found dead

An inmate of the Wyandotte County Jail was found unresponsive in a cell at 6:33 a.m. Thursday, March 3, according to a news release from the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office.

The inmate, identified as Jason P. Foley, 41, of Lansing, Kansas, was found by a deputy making a routine cell check, the news release stated.

Foley was pronounced dead, after the efforts of deputies and EMS personnel to revive him, according to the spokesman.

The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating, the spokesman stated. According to the Sheriff’s Office, preliminary stage evidence pointed toward suicide as the cause of death.

Some local churches and organizations are looking to raise funds with fish dinner fundraisers.

St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9400 State Ave., will hold a fish fry starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 4, in the parish center. Drive-up service will be available.

Adult meals are $12 and kids meals are $6. The family meal is $35 and will serve two adults and two or more children under 12. Each meal comes with mac and cheese or French fries, green beans, cole slaw, a roll, a drink and dessert. They are also planning fish dinners on the other Fridays in Lent, not including Good Friday.

St. John’s Catholic Club, 414 Barnett, will have a jumbo shrimp dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 4 and April 8. Reservations were being taken to 913-371-9690, with the cost of the dinner at $18. Nonperishable donations were being accepted for the church’s food pantry.
