Victim of homicide on North 18th identified

The victim of a homicide in the 300 block of North 18th Street has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.

The victim, Joshua D. Gibson, 26, was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman stated.

Police found him after receiving a call about 8:13 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, about a shooting in the 300 block of North 18th Street.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating.

Two Kansans won $50,000 in Powerball on Monday night.

While they didn’t take home the approximately $700 million jackpot, one ticket in northeast Kansas and one in northwest Kansas matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000, according to the Kansas Lottery. The northwest Kansas ticket added on a Power Play multiplier that doubled the prize to $100,000.

The northeast Kansas area includes Wyandotte, Johnson, Leavenworth counties and several other counties.

Powerball’s winning jackpot ticket was sold in California. Powerball now returns to a $20 million jackpot.

The winning Powerball numbers on Oct. 4 were 12-22-54-66-69 Powerball 15 and PowerPlay 2X.

In Saturday night’s drawing, two Kansans also matched four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000. There have been seven $50,000 winners in Kansas in the past month.

The Kansas Lottery is currently taking appointments to 785-296-5700 for in-person prize claims of $600 or more.

Victim of homicide on North 33rd identified

Kansas City, Kansas, police detectives have identified the victim in a homicide on Friday in the 2100 block of North 33rd.

Tyrelle Baker, 40, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, was the victim, according to a police spokesman.
