Homicide reported in 3100 block of Minnesota Avenue

Officers responded in a homicide case about 3 a.m. Saturday to the 3100 block of Minnesota Avenue, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.

When they arrived on the suspicious activity call, officers were taken to an apartment where they found a deceased female inside, the spokesman stated.

A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene, according to the spokesman.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit is investigating, the spokesman stated.

Candidate forum to be Saturday

A candidate forum will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the First Baptist Church, 500 Nebraska, Kansas City, Kansas.

Candidates for mayor and other offices have been invited to the forum. Sheriff, Unified Government commissioners, Board of Public Utilities and school board candidates were invited.

The forum has a limited seating of 75. Masks and social distancing are required for those who attend in person.
