One dead, one hospitalized in crash near 57th and Kaw Drive

A two-vehicle crash on Kaw Drive east of North 57th has killed one driver and sent the other to the hospital, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department responded to the injury accident, the spokesman stated.

The two vehicles appeared to have been involved in a head-on crash, according to the spokesman. The driver of the westbound vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police stated.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the spokesman.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS, the spokesman stated.

Wyandotte County Republican Women to meet Tuesday

The Wyandotte County Republican Women will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Moose Lodge, 6621 Turner Drive, Kansas City, Kansas.

The social hour will be at 5:30 p.m.

Republican candidates will be introduced.

Murrel Bland will introduce Amy Loch, director of the Wyandotte County Museum. Loch will be the guest speaker.

Reservations are not required for the meeting.
