U.S. Men’s Team beats Canada, 1-0

Twenty seconds was all the U.S. Men’s National Team needed to beat the Canadian national team in a Concacaf Gold Cup Group B contest on Sunday evening at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

Scoring a goal in the first 20 seconds of the game, Shaq Moore was assisted by Sebastian Lletget of the LA Galaxy. Gianluco Busio passed to Kellyn Acosta, who passed to Lletget. Lletget’s shot then was put in by Moore.

U.S. captain Walker Zimmerman was injured in the ninth minute of the match as he saved a goal.

The USMNT won Group B and moves on to the quarterfinal match Sunday, July 25, in Arlington, Texas. The U.S. will play either Jamaica or Costa Rica.

Canada also advances in the quarterfinals.

Attendance at Children’s Mercy Park was reported at 18,467.
