Severe thunderstorm warning issued

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Wyandotte County and surrounding areas until 10:30 p.m.

At 9:32 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 6 miles west of Kingston to near Holt to near Camden Point to near Effingham, moving southeast at 35 mph.

Expect 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail with this storm, the weather service said.

Damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.

Wyandotte County and other areas are in the path of the storm.

Building, the weather service said.

Thunderstorm watch issued for Wyandotte County

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Wyandotte County and surrounding areas from 8:55 p.m. Thursday, June 24, until 3 a.m. Friday, June 25, according to the National Weather Service.

Leavenworth, Johnson, Jefferson, Douglas, Atchison and several other counties also are under the severe thunderstorm watch.

Wyandotte County and the surrounding areas also are under a flash flood watch from now through 7 a.m. Saturday, June 26.

Motorists are advised not to drive through water in the roadways, but to turn around and take another route.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., the weather service said. Heavy rain is possible, along with lightning, flash flooding, hail and high winds.

Residents are advised to have more than one way to receive weather information.

Two juveniles arrested in connection with shooting death near 66th and Cleveland

Two juveniles have been arrested in the June 8 shooting death of 15-year-old Kaden Bauswell in the 6600 block of Cleveland Avenue of Kansas City, Kansas.

A Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman stated that the U.S. Marshals Task Force of Omaha and the U.S. Marshals Las Cruces in New Mexico took the juveniles, ages 17 and 16, into custody.

They will face charges in Wyandotte County, the spokesman stated.

Police officers responded shortly before noon on June 8 to the 6600 block of Cleveland, where they discovered Bauswell on a sidewalk, the victim of an apparent shooting, according to the spokesman. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The suspects fled in a vehicle before officers arrived, according to the spokesman.
