Online Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale starts today

The online Wyandotte County Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale will be Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1.

This year the plant sale will be online, with orders placed online and then picked up at the Extension office at 1216 N. 79th St., Kansas City, Kansas. The Extension office phone number is 913-299-9300.

Orders can be placed from 9 a.m. Friday through 1:30 p.m. Saturday at https://wycomastergardeners.square.site/. The pickup time may be selected when placing an order online.

Volunteers grew plants for the annual plant sale.

Proceeds help directly fund horticulture and lawn and garden projects or educational opportunities held by Wyandotte County Extension Master Gardener volunteers throughout Wyandotte County.

Accident reported on northbound I-435 near K-5

An accident was reported at 6:57 a.m. Friday, April 30, on northbound I-435 near K-5, according to KC Scout. Two right lanes were closed. According to the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department, a utility truck collided with a semi truck. A 42-year-old Dearborn, Missouri, man was taken to a hospital with a suspected serious injury after a crash on Friday morning between a utility truck and semi on I-435.

The crash happened about 6:50 a.m. Friday on northbound I-435, south of the Missouri River in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash log.

A Ford F-550 truck driven by the Dearborn man was southbound on I-435, while the semi, which was pulling a trailer, was northbound on I-435, the report stated.

The utility truck ran off the road to the left, crossed through the median, and collided with the semi on the northbound side, according to the trooper’s report.

The Dearborn man was taken to a hospital in Overland Park.

The Kenworth semi driver, a 58-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, according to the trooper’s report.

Sunday, there will be a 50 percent chance of rain, the weather service said. At this time, the hourly weather forecast for the area calls for a slight chance of rain Sunday morning, with chances increasing a little at 1 p.m., then increasing again at 7 p.m. The high will be near 77 with a south wind of 9 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.
