Warm clothing and food giveaway planned Nov. 7

A warm clothing and food giveaway is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6640 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

The Keep Wyandotte Warm and Feed the Need event is sponsored by Wyandotte Angels and the Giving Hope Food Pantry.

The Wyandotte Angels assist with food, snacks, clothing, kids items, baby items, home items and clean ups, according to its Facebook page.

According to their social media information, the group was started by Martin and Jalynda Cervantes to help local residents.

Fatal shooting reported on North 76th

Police responded to a report of a man outside yelling and shooting a gun shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the 1800 block of North 76th Street, according to a police spokesman.

When they arrived, officers found an unknown male, deceased, with an apparent gunshot wound, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department stated.

At this time, the identity of the deceased is unknown, but is believed to be a male in his late 20s, police stated.

The location of the death is near apartments in that area.

The shooting is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Major Case Unit, according to a spokesman. Anyone with information about it is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
