Wyandotte County is in Phase 3 under Kansas Ad Astra reopening plan. Local health officials said under Phase 3, people should keep a distance of 6 feet between themselves and others. They may sit closer to people who live in their households. Also, people should wear masks and should wash hands or use hand sanitizer. There is a mask order in effect in Wyandotte County, requiring masks to be worn inside any public space.

Some faith groups will continue holding online or video services. In Wyandotte County, those who are older than 60 or who have other medical conditions should continue being very cautious, according to the Wyandotte County health officials. Those who are sick should stay home, according to officials.

KCK man charged in fatal shootings of two in Missouri

Juan C. Berumen, 27, of Kansas City, Kansas, was charged today in the fatal shootings of two persons in Kansas City, Missouri.

The shootings took place at a gas station in Kansas City, Missouri, according to authorities.

Berumen was charged with two degree murder, second degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

The shootings took place in the parking lot of a gas station in the West Bottoms, according to court documents. Investigators found 25 shell casings in the parking lot.

Standoff near 51st and Leavenworth Road ends peacefully

A standoff Saturday, Nov. 7, near 51st and Leavenworth Road ended without incident, according to police.

Police received a call at 9:03 a.m. to assist Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department personnel, according to a police spokesman.

A man in his 40s was armed with a weapon and in crisis, making them fear for their safety, the spokesman stated.

When Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department officers responded, the suspect did not comply with the officers and the tactical unit was brought in, according to the spokesman.

A police negotiator was finally able to get the suspect to comply, and he was taken into custody without incident, the spokesman stated. The subject was taken to a hospital for evaluation. There were no injuries, police said.
