Kansas attorney general asks U.S. Supreme Court for review of Pennsylvania ballot extension

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling allowing ballot extensions.

Schmidt argued in a brief Monday that the U.S. Supreme Court should review the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s ruling because “COVID-19 does not make these laws unconstitutional.”

He wrote that it was essentially a legislative decision whether to count ballots later, not a court decision.

Schmidt joined with the attorneys general of Oklahoma and other states in asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case.

The filing on Monday was the latest in a series of legal efforts Schmidt joined concerning the election.

Schmidt’s brief is online at https://bit.ly/3ka0Ozq.
