KCK man indicted on federal drug, gun charges
Brandon Banister, 35, Kansas City, Kansas, has been charged with drug and firearms violations, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Banister was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute heroin (count 1), one count of distributing marijuana (count 2), one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking (count 3) and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (count 4).
The crimes are alleged to have occurred Feb. 27, 2020, in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
If found guilty of the charges, Banister would face up to 60 years in prison and fines up to $5.75 million, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
The FBI investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sheri Catania is prosecuting.
This prosecution is a multi-agency approach by the Kansas City Metro Strike Force, part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
