Armed disturbance reported on North 18th

Officers responded to a dispatched armed disturbance call at 10:17 a.m. Sept. 9 in the 400 block of North 18th Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The caller reported a suspect was pointing a gun and firing a weapon, according to the report. When officers arrived, witnesses identified the suspect, who tried to flee, the report stated.

While in custody, the suspect spit in an officer’s face , according to the report. The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment. The shift sergeant, detectives and crime scene investigators responded.

Shooting into vehicle reported on I-70

A shooting into an occupied vehicle was reported at 5:16 p.m. Sept. 9 at 38th Street and I-635, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Police responded to assist the Kansas Highway Patrol. When officers arrived, victims said they were traveling on I-70 when another vehicle began shooting at them, according to the report.


Evidence was collected by the highway patrol. Crime scene investigators responded to assist.

Shooting into occupied building reported on North 34th

Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 3000 block of North 34th, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Victims said they were in their residence when they heard gunfire outside, according to the report.

The home was struck, causing damage, the report stated. The shift supervisor and crime scene investigators responded.

Commercial burglary reported in the 6900 block of Riverview

A commercial burglary was reported at 9 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 6900 block of Riverview, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers made contact with the complainant, who advised that unknown persons damaged and entered into a construction trailer.

Property was found to have been stolen from the site, according to the report. The shift sergeant and detectives were notified and crime scene investigators responded.

Shooting into dwelling reported in 4800 block of Locust

A shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported at 11:28 p.m. Sept. 9 in the 5800 block of Locust Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim advised that a suspect fired one round at him while in his front yard, according to the report.

The bullet hit the residence, which was occupied by an additional victim,the report said. The suspect fled, according to the report. No injuries were reported. A detective and shift sergeant responded.

The coldest high for the day was 60, set in 1898, the weather service said, and the high will be near 57 today.

Rain is in the forecast for much of the day today, according to the weather service.

Chances of rain will continue through Saturday, with 1 to 3 inches of rain expected, according to the weather service. Minor flooding may be possible.

Today, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, mainly before 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 57 with a north northeast wind of 9 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 54 with a north northeast wind of 7 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is an 80 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1 p.m., with a high near 68, the weather service said. A north wind of 5 mph will become light and variable in the afternoon. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.
