CVS to hold virtual job fair on Friday

CVS is holding a virtual job fair on Friday, July 31, to fill more than 200 new full-time and part-time positions at its distribution center at 10711 N. Congress Ave., Kansas City, Missouri.

Available positions include full and part-time warehouse distribution associates. All individuals will be responsible for a variety of general warehouse duties and be trained in one primary functional area. Interested candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. While previous warehouse experience is preferred, it is not required.

According to the website, the pay is $13 an hour. The benefits package includes paid vacation, 10 paid holidays, health/dental/vision insurance, employee discounted stock purchase program, 401K with company match, career advancement opportunities, and a 20-30 percent employee discount at CVS retail stores.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 31, through Indeed.com’s virtual interviewing platform, which can be accessed from any device (mobile or desktop). Candidates should prepare in the same way they would for an in-person interview, with each virtual interview expected to last 10-15 minutes. Attire is business casual.

Explosive detonated in parked vehicle on Sandusky

An unknown explosive was placed inside a victim’s parked and unoccupied vehicle and it was detonated about 1:27 a.m. July 28 in the 6400 block of Sandusky, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The vehicle was damaged, according to the report. The suspect is unknown, the report stated.

Robbery reported on Wood

An aggravated robbery was reported at 7:06 a.m. July 28 in the 3300 block of Wood Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

During a verbal altercation, a suspect produced a knife and demanded the victim’s money, according to the report. The victim complied and called police, the report stated. The suspect was located and taken into custody, according to the report.

Shots fired on North 26th

A victim was outside his residence at 11:43 a.m. July 28 near the 300 block of North 26th Street when several unknown suspects drove by in a vehicle and fired several shots in his direction, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

There were no injuries, according to the report.

Shots fired while driving on Central Avenue

A victim was traveling on Central Avenue when an unknown person confronted him about an improper lane change about 4:45 pm.. July 28 near North 7th and Central, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

During a verbal exchange, the suspect produced a handgun and fired several shots at the suspect, striking the vehicle, the report stated. There were no injuries.
