A shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported July 5 in the 3000 block of South 53rd Street, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victims woke up to find two bullets inside their residence, according to the report. There was no suspect information.

Shooting reported near 71st and Armstrong

Another shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported July 5 in the 7100 block of Armstrong, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim woke up after hearing a loud bang and found damage inside of her residence, according to the report. There was no suspect information.

Burglary reported on Shawnee

Officers responded to an alarm call on July 5 and found a front glass window broken by a rock in the 200 block of Shawnee, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The owner then arrived and said several tools had been stolen, the report stated.

Shooting reported near 11th and Central

A victim was walking on Central Avenue on July 5 when an unknown person shot the victim in the leg, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. There was no suspect information.

Gun fired at victim near 98th and Parallel

A victim told police he was in an argument with the suspect on July 5 near 98th and Parallel when the suspect pointed a gun at him and fired a round, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The suspect fled before officers arrived, according to the report.

Victim of homicide on West 40th Terrace identified

The victim of a homicide at 4:31 a.m. July 5 in the 3000 block of West 40th Terrace has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

The victim was Dennis K. Barnett, 34, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman stated.

Police responded to the 3000 block of West 40th Terrace on a shooting call, and found a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound, according to the spokesman.

Victim of homicide on Ridge Avenue identified

The victim of homicide on Sunday in the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue has been identified, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim was Edwin R. Pinton, 28, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, police stated.

Police officers responded to a shooting call at 2:23 a.m. July 5 in the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue, according to the spokesman. They found a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound, police stated.
