Summer-like weather arrives this week, with temperatures in the high 80s to 90s, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday through Friday, the weather service said, with severe weather possible Wednesday.
On Tuesday, June 2, through Friday, June 5, will be this year’s first multi-day period of heat, according to the weather service. Each day, afternoon high temperatures will be near 90 with heat index values in the low to mid-90s.
Residents are advised to consider what actions they need to take to keep cool when the heat builds and the threat of extreme heat increases, the weather service said.
The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes the Wolcott area of Wyandotte County, dropped down out of the action stage on Saturday and Sunday and is now about 6 feet below minor flood stage.
Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and a south southwest wind of 8 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low around 67 and a south southwest wind of 8 to 11 mph, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 89 and a south southwest wind of 9 to 13 mph, the weather service said.
Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 71 and a south southwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, according to the weather service.
Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 91 with a southwest wind of 6 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, with a low of 70, according to the weather service. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
