Hit-and-run accident reported on I-35

A hit-and-run accident was reported at 7:36 a.m. Friday, April 24, on northbound I-35 at 18th Street Expressway, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A white Volkswagen Beetle was northbound on I-35 when it sideswiped a Toyota Corolla in the next lane, according to the trooper’s report.

The Beetle left the accident scene, according to the report. The Corolla ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail, the report stated.

The driver of the Corolla, a 69-year-old Olatha, Kansas, man, was taken to a hospital with a possible minor injury, according to the trooper’s report.

Suspect arrested after attempted burglary

A suspect broke out a window of a vehicle and took property about 7:15 a.m. April 23, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. It was an aggravated domestic assault and burglary, according to the report.

The victim then confronted the suspect, then the suspect swung a large blunt object at the victim, according to the report. The suspect was taken into custody, police stated.
