Today: High in low 50s, fire risk on Wednesday

Today, skies will be sunny with a high of about 52, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Warm and windy conditions will continue Wednesday, resulting in an elevated fire weather risk, the weather service said.

The next chance for rain will be on Thursday, when showers and a few thunderstorms are possible, according to the weather service. Severe weather is not predicted at this time.

The temperature will drop on Friday, and rain could change to a wintry mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain on Friday night into Saturday, the weather service said.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 52 and a west southwest wind of 5 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, the low will be around 28 with a west southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph becoming light and variable, according to the weather service.

Wednesday, it will be sunny with a high near 52 and an east wind of 9 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph, the weather service said.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 45 and a south wind of 15 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 34 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of precipitation, with a slight chance of showers before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between noon and 3 p.m., and a chance of showers after 3 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 58 with a southwest wind of 11 to 16 mph, decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 33 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is expected.

Thursday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before midnight, with a low of 37, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is expected.

Friday, there is a 70 percent chance of rain, mainly after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 45.

Friday night, there is a 50 percent chance of rain before 11 p.m., then a chance of snow and freezing rain between 11 p.m. and midnight, then a chance of snow after midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 22.

Saturday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 30, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 20, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 42, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 30, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 45, the weather service said.

Edwardsville officers search for suspect

A search conducted Saturday near 98th and Riverview for a wanted person did not result in any arrests, according to Edwardsville police.

Edwardsville Police Chief Mark Mathies stated that a wanted person on Saturday had fled the area near 98th and Riverview, and officers believed he might be hiding in a wooded area between 98th and 94th streets. Several agencies participated in a search.

Officers did not locate anyone after an exhaustive search, he stated, and no arrests were made.

The search was started again after dark on Saturday, after officers believed the person was seen again; however, the search did not find anyone, according to Chief Mathies.
