Shooting into occupied vehicle reported
A shooting into an occupied vehicle was reported at 1:49 a.m. Jan. 20 in the 1800 block of Oakland Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A victim stated that the vehicle next to theirs began shooting at them, according to the report. The suspects shot the victim’s vehicle and left, the report stated. There were no injuries.

Aggravated domestic battery reported
A victim got into an argument with a suspect around 2:55 a.m., according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The suspect grabbed the victim’s neck and applied pressure, and the victim could not breathe, according to the report. The victim refused medical treatment at the time of the report. The suspect fled and was not apprehended at the time of the report.

Aggravated domestic battery reported
An aggravated domestic battery case was reported at 4:27 a.m., according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A victim stated that the suspect hit the victim in the face, and then choked the victim on the ground, according to the report. The victim stated that the victim could not breathe. The suspect was taken into custody with minimal force, police stated.

Aggravated assault reported on Webster
An aggravated assault case was reported a 7:10 a.m. Jan. 19 in the 5200 block of Webster Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. The suspect entered the victim’s residence, according to the report.

The suspect, who had a knife, threatened the victim, and the suspect was taken into custody at the scene, police reported. The victim was not injured.

Police vehicle involved in accident
A Kansas City, Kansas, police vehicle was involved in an accident about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in the 1800 block of Kansas Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The vehicle, driven by an officer, swerved off to the side and hit a small sign, according to the report. There was minor damage to the vehicle, the report stated. No one was injured.

Rape, domestic battery reported
A report of rape and aggravated domestic battery was received about 4:58 p.m. Jan. 19, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The victim called police and stated a suspect had raped the victim, put his hands around the victim’s neck and applied pressure to the point where the victim could not breathe, according to the report. The suspect was taken into custody, the report stated. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Accident reported after attempt to stop vehicle for speeding
Officers tried to stop a vehicle for speeding around 5:33 p.m. Jan. 19, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The vehicle was leaving an area where there were reports of multiple shots fired, according to the report.

According to police, once the officer realized the vehicle would not stop, officers pulled over without a pursuit. A short time later a rollover injury accident involving the vehicle was reported not far from the area the officer last saw the vehicle, according to police.

The occupants fled the scene, according to the report. It was found that the suspect had a juvenile inside the vehicle when the suspect failed to stop for officers and crashed, according to the report. The suspect was not apprehended, according to police.

Shooting into dwelling reported
A shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported at 10:20 p.m. Jan. 19, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

Officers were sent to a location and found two houses had been hit by bullets, according to the report.

Multiple people were inside, including two juveniles, the report stated. There were no reported injuries.

Today’s weather: Cold temperatures, snow showers possible

Temperatures are very cold today, at 14 degrees at 8 a.m., and warming to 16 later today, according to the National Weather Service. The wind chill reading was 5 degrees at 8 a.m.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow showers or flurries before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by a chance of flurries after 3 p.m., the weather service said. From a trace to less than 1 inch of snow is possible.

Below normal temperatures will continue through Tuesday morning, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will rise into the mid-30s on Tuesday, and there will be a chance of snow in the forecast again on Tuesday night, Wednesday, Thursday night and Friday, the weather service said.

Today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the high will be near 16, with a slight chance of snow showers, the weather service said. There will be a light north wind.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 8 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 36, the weather service said. A calm wind will become south around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow after midnight, with a low of 31, according to the weather service. A light south wind will increase to 5 to 9 mph in the evening. Winds may gust as high as 20 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 70 percent chance of rain and snow, becoming all rain after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 38 with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph. Less than a half-inch of snow is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, with a low of 34, according to the weather service. Less than a tenth of an inch is possible.

Thursday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain, with a high near 41, the weather service said.

Thursday night, there is a 40 percent chance of rain before 10 p.m., then a chance of rain and snow between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., then a chance of snow after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 29.

Friday, there is a 30 percent chance of snow, mixing with rain after 11 a.m., then gradually ending, the weather service said. The high will be near 37.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 28, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 40, the weather service said.

Trash collection as usual today

Trash collection will take place as usual today in Wyandotte County, according to Waste Management of Kansas.

Waste Management will pick up its usual trash and recycling routes on Monday, Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Jr., Day, according to the announcement.

There will be no service delays this week, according to Waste Management.
