Open house today for KC Levee Trails project

An open house will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today, Jan. 23, on the KC Levee Trails project.

The open house will be at the Kansas City, Kansas, South Patrol Division, 2200 Metropolitan Ave.

Residents will have the opportunity to make comments about the access points, trail connections and priority amenities on the levee trails planned along the Kansas River.

Comments also are being accepted online at a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KCLeveeTrail.

Victim hit by gunfire near vehicle on Turner Diagonal

A victim was hit by gunfire near a vehicle on the Turner Diagonal about 10 p.m. Jan. 22 near 65th and the Turner Diagonal, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

The injury was not life-threatening, police said.

According to a police social media post, the victim reported seeing a vehicle in the ditch, then was walking up to the vehicle when a suspect began shooting at the victim.

The vehicle in the ditch had been shot, but no one was in the vehicle, according to the police.

Officers stated that it was possible that the driver, a possible victim, had been shot and fled the scene, according to the report. Officers could not locate that driver, police stated.

There were no arrests in the case as of today.
