UG committee to meet tonight

The Unified Government Public Works and Safety Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the fifth floor meeting room, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

On the agenda will be a request to approval a region hazard mitigation plan, an ordinance containing revisions to the low-pressure sewer system fees, and a resolution for a wastewater connection agreement for the Bonner Springs Crossing Development at State Avenue and 118th Street.

On the committee’s public agenda is an appearance by Tcher Manck requesting community resource officers be used to provide a night hoops program.

Women’s chamber to meet Dec. 11

The Kansas City, Kansas, Women’s Chamber of Commerce will meet for a holiday gift exchange and luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Great Wolf Lodge, 10401 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kansas.

Police notes

Domestic assault and battery reported


An aggravated domestic assault and battery case was reported at 1:17 a.m. Dec. 9, according to a social media report by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A victim stated that the suspect beat the victim with a blunt object and then stabbed the victim with a knife, according to the report.

The suspect then allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to kill the victim, according to the report. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Aggravated domestic battery reported


Aggravated domestic battery was reported at 2 a.m. Dec. 9, according to a social media post by the police department.

A victim stated the suspect grabbed the victim by the neck and impeded the victim’s ability to breathe, according to the report. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, the report stated. The victim had minor injuries.

Shots fired from vehicle on Pacific Avenue


Aggravated assault and criminal damage was reported at 4:02 a.m. Dec. 9 in the 1000 block of Pacific Avenue, according to a social media report by the police department.

The suspect’s vehicle began chasing the victim’s vehicle, according to the report. The suspect allegedly shot at the victim multiple times, the report stated.

The victim was not injured; the victim’s vehicle was damaged by gunfire, according to the report.
