KCK man dies in traffic accident on K-7

A Kansas City, Kansas, man died in a traffic accident at 8:37 p.m. Dec. 11 on K-7 about 2 miles south of Lansing, in Leavenworth County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash log, a Dodge Dakota was southbound on K-7 when it went into the west ditch and struck an embankment. The reason it went into the ditch was unknown, the report stated.

Rodney A. Wallace, 32, a Kansas City, Kansas, resident, died in the crash, the trooper’s report stated. He was not believed to be wearing a seat belt, the report stated.

Fire reported near 80th and Washington

A fire was reported in a home at 8007 Washington Blvd. at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department spokesman.

There were no injuries, and the residents were not home at the time of the fire, according to a spokesman.

When fire crews arrived, they found flames showing in the front room of the house, the spokesman stated. Crews attacked the fire and did a search of the residence.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, the spokesman stated.

Damage to the home was estimated at $15,000 to $25,000.
