A shooting into an occupied dwelling was reported about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the 500 block of Northrup Avenue, according to a social media post by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

A victim told police he heard several gunshots, then a round entered his residence. There were no injuries, according to police.

The Board of Public Utilities meeting will convene on Wednesday, Oct. 9, instead of Oct. 2.

According to a BPU spokesman, the work session will begin at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9 and the regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at the BPU Administration Building, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

The meetings are open to the public.

The BPU Finance Committee will meet at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 9 and that meeting will be in the BPU board room, 540 Minnesota Ave.

The second board meeting in October is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, and a work session will be held earlier at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 16.

A man died in a motorcycle accident about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the 300 block of North James Street, according to a police spokesman.

A preliminary report showed that a single motorcycle was traveling northbound on James Street, when the vehicle left the roadway, ejecting the rider, a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department stated.

The driver died of injuries sustained in the accident, according to the spokesman.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit – Critical Collision Response Team is investigating.
