Fatal accident reported on North 59th

A fatal accident was reported about 7:31 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the 4100 block of North 59th Street, according to Kansas City, Kansas, police.

A police spokesman said an initial investigation showed that a single vehicle was northbound on North 59th Street when it left the roadway.

One driver, a man in his early 40s, was found deceased at the scene, the police spokesman stated.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit – Critical Collision Response Team is investigating.

Rain to continue today through Saturday

Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast through Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Three to 4 inches of rain are possible with these storms, in some areas, the weather service said.

Wyandotte County is currently under a flash flood watch through Saturday morning.

The rivers in Wyandotte County are below flood stage on Thursday morning. The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes Wyandotte County, is below flood stage and has dropped below action stage. The Kansas River at 23rd Street, whose gauge is near Kansas Avenue and the state line, has dropped below flood stage and dropped below action stage.

Today, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3 p.m., the weather service said. Some could produce heavy rain. The high will be near 83 with an east southeast wind of 7 to 9 mph. Between three-quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. The low will be around 68, with an east wind of 9 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and some storms could produce heavy rain. The high will be near 77 with an east southeast wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between three-quarters and 1 inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and some storms could produce heavy rain, according to the weather service. The low will be around 66, with a light east wind. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 82 with a light east wind. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 64, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny with a high near 85, the weather service said.
