Comfortable temperatures continue today

Today’s forecast is a high near 80 with sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs in the 80s will continue until the weekend, rising a few degrees each day, and the Saturday forecast calls for a high of 89.

A cold front could bring storms and rain into the area from Sunday night to Monday night, according to the weather service.

The rivers in Wyandotte County currently are in the action stage, which is below flood stage. The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes Wyandotte County in its area, is at action stage, as is the Kansas River at 23rd Street, whose gauge is near Kansas Avenue and the state line.

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 80 and a north northeast wind of 6 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, there will be patchy fog after 5 a.m. The low will be around 61 with mostly clear skies, according to the weather service. A north northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph will become calm in the evening.

Wednesday, there will be areas of fog before 10 a.m., the weather service said. Otherwise, it will be sunny with a high of 81 and a light and variable wind.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 62 and a calm wind, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 84 and a calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the morning, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 66, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 87, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 68, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny with a high near 89, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 71, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 90, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 73, according to the weather service.

Monday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a high near 88, the weather service said.

Candidate forum to be shown on cable TV

A candidate forum will be shown on the Kansas City Kansas Community College cable television station beginning Tuesday, July 23.

The forum for candidates who are on the primary election ballot took place on Wednesday, July 17, at the Dr. Burke KCKCC-TEC, 6565 State Ave.

The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The KCKCC channel, KCEC, is on Spectrum Cable Channel 17 and on Google TV Channel 146.

The forum also is being shown on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/KCECable.

At the candidate forum were candidates for Board of Public Utilities, at large, 3rd District; BPU, 1st District; BPU, 3rd District; Unified Government Commission, 1st District, at large; UG Commission, 3rd District; and UG Commission, 4th District.

Candidates at the forum made a short opening statement and closing statement, and answered questions from a panel.
