Shooting reported at Edgerton Park

A father who was playing basketball with his daughter was shot in the head on Saturday evening at Edgerton Park, according to a sheriff’s spokesman.

Three suspects approached the father and daughter and began fighting, the spokesman stated. The daughter ran for help, and police and EMS were called at 6:45 p.m., according to the spokesman.

The father was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, the sheriff’s spokesman stated.

The suspects are unknown, the spokesman stated.

Authorities are currently investigating the case. Edgerton Park is at North 3rd and Edgerton in Kansas City, Kansas.

St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas, plans a Cinco de Mayo celebration from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 5. The event includes food, music and folk dancing. K-State captures Sunflower Showdown trophy again in women’s rowing at Wyandotte County Lake

For the second year in a row, the Kansas State women’s rowing team defeated the University of Kansas at the Sunflower Showdown Saturday at Wyandotte County Lake.

K-State swept the events, taking first place in all five events and winning 22 points to 0. It was a home event and senior day for KU.

The Big 12 championship will be held on Sunday, May 19, at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
