Tornado warning extended until 8:09 p.m.

The tornado warning has been extended until 8:09 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service reported multiple tornadoes, including some in Bonner Springs and in the Legends area. The storm is considered extremely dangerous.

Wyandotte County residents are asked to take cover on the lowest floor of a building until 8:09 p.m.

Wyandotte County is now under a tornado warning.

Residents are advised to take cover.

At 6:31 p.m., a confirmed large and destructive tornado was observed over Eudora, or 7 miles east of Lawrence, moving northeast at 45 mph, the weather service said.

Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Kansas City, Kansas, are in the path of the tornado.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for west central Wyandotte County until 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents were advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

At 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, a severe thunderstorm was located over southwestern Lawrence, moving northeast at 40 mph, the weather service said.

The storm potentially includes 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, with possible damage to vehicles, tree damage, mobile home damage, roof damage and outbuilding damage, according to the weather service.

Locations in the path of the storm may include Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, Kansas City, Kansas, Tonganoxie, Basehor, Shawnee, Lenexa and several other locations, the weather service said.

Also a tornado warning has been issued for southwestern Leavenworth County and northwestern Johnson County until 6:45 p.m. after a tornado was spotted near Lawrence, Kansas.
