Program planned on ‘Plastic or Planet’

A presentation, “Plastic or Planet,” is planned from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the Grandview Park Church, 1613 Wilson Blvd., Kansas City, Kansas. Kathleen Corbin is the presenter.

A panel discussion with questions and answers are planned. Light refreshments will be available.

The panel may discuss solutions for reducing plastic in everyday life. The event is free and open to the public.

Motorcyclist injured on I-635

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-635 near K-5 at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, April 6, when it lost control, left the roadway and overturned, according to a trooper’s report.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas, had a suspected serious injury and was taken to the hospital, the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report stated.

He was wearing a helmet, according to the report.

Motorcycle runs off I-635, hits barrier wall

A motorcyclist who was northbound on I-635 at State Avenue at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, April 6, left the roadway at a high rate of speed, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

According to the trooper’s report, the Yamaha motorcycle made an unsafe lane change, went off the roadway to the left and collided with the barrier wall.

The driver, a 37-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, was taken to a hospital with a suspected minor injury, the trooper’s report stated. He was wearing a helmet.
