Police investigate shooting on North 26th near Wood

A serious injury was reported in a shooting at 3:10 p.m. Monday near North 26th and Wood Avenue.

According to the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman, officers responded and found a man in his 20s who had been shot.

Emergency personnel from the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department responded and took the victim to a hospital, with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries, the spokesman stated.

Since then, the victim’s condition was upgraded to non-life-threatening, according to the spokesman.

Incendiary device suspected in Ruby Avenue fire

An incendiary device is suspected in a fire on Saturday in the 1600 block of Ruby Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department.

There is an ongoing criminal investigation in the case, the spokesman stated.

According to the spokesman, one firefighter suffered a minor leg injury in fighting the fire.

When firefighters arrived at the fire on Saturday, they reported a fully involved structure and defensive firefighting tactics were used, the spokesman stated.

The damage was estimated at $30,000.
