Job fair today at Reardon Center

A job fair, “Get Hired – Kansas City” Career Expo, continues through 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at the Reardon Convention Center, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

The expo is free and open to the public. More than 90 employers will be present.

Those job-seekers who attend should dress for a job interview and bring copies of their resumes.

Today’s temperatures to reach mid-70s, with chance of showers

After a dense fog advisory on Thursday morning, temperatures will rise to a high of 74, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is possible after 3 p.m., the weather service said. A light and variable wind will become north northwest 13 to 18 mph in the morning, with winds gusting as high as 28 mph.

Look for more rain Saturday through the first half of next week, according to the weather service. Flooding will be possible, and concerns will continue on the Missouri River, the weather service said. The Missouri River in the Wyandotte County area currently is below flood stage.

Tonight, it will be clear with a low of 47 and a northwest wind of 6 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 24 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny with a high near 69 and a north wind of 6 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 54, according to the weather service. There will be a south southeast wind of 5 to 13 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is in the forecast.

Saturday, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 71, the weather service said. It will be breezy, with a south wind of 15 to 22 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds may gust up to 33 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 39, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be partly sunny with a high near 62, the weather service said.

Sunday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 53.

Monday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 68, the weather service said.

Monday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1 a.m., with a low of 50, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 70 percent chance of showers, with a high near 64, the weather service said.

Tuesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 53, according to the weather service.

Shooting reported in Walmart area parking lot

A shooting at an occupied vehicle in the Walmart area parking lot near 108th and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, was reported Wednesday night.

According to a social media post by the police chief, the victims were sitting in their car in the parking lot when an unknown person began shooting at them. The vehicle was hit several times.

When they left their vehicle, the victims were shot at again by the suspect, according to the police chief. The suspect then fled.
