Winter weather advisory in effect until noon Sunday

A winter weather advisory is in effect Saturday night through noon Sunday, March 3, according to the National Weather Service.

Total snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches is expected, the weather service stated.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility because of blowing snow, the weather service said. Expect travel difficulties and snow-covered roads, according to the weather service.

The weather service stated snow showers are likely mainly after 2 a.m., with heavy snow at times. Expect patchy blowing snow after 5 a.m., with a low tonight of 12. A north wind of 10 to 15 mph may gust as high as 28 mph. About 3 to 5 inches of snow are possible tonight.

On Sunday, there will be snow showers, mainly before 9 a.m., the weather service said, and patchy blowing snow before noon. Temperatures will fall to around 10 degrees by 5 p.m. There will be wind chill values of between minus 5 and 1. A north wind of 13 to 15 mph will gust as high as 25 mph. Around an inch of new snow accumulation is possible.

Sunday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of minus 1, according to the weather service, and wind chill values of between minus 6 and minus 11. There will be a north northwest wind of 6 to 11 mph.

BPU to meet March 6
The Board of Public Utilities will meet in a special session at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the BPU offices, board room, first floor, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.
