Vehicle stolen by escaped inmate found near 92nd and Parallel

A vehicle used by an escaped inmate to flee from a state prison was found near 92nd and Parallel Parkway on Monday night.

According to authorities, the escaped inmate was Cal Henry Green III, 36, who fled in a stolen dump truck. He was at large on Tuesday morning.

Green had been convicted of burglary and aggravated battery from Wyandotte County, and was serving a sentence at Lansing Correctional Facility, according to records.

Ribbon-cutting today for new Quindaro bus route

RideKC will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 118 18th Street Route at 10 a.m. Jan. 8. in front of Fast Fred’s Supermarket at 1806 N. 18th St. to celebrate the first new transit service operated by the Unified Government in more than 10 years.

The route started Jan. 2, 2019 and is the first all-day route from Kansas City, Kansas, to Johnson County, Kansas. It gets passengers from Quindaro Boulevard to 51st Street in Roeland Park in under 25 minutes. The bus runs hourly, every weekday from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“This historic new route is the result of a strong RideKC partnership committed to connecting people to opportunities,” said Robbie Makinen, KCATA CEO. “For the first time in over a decade, thousands of people along the route will now have fast, frequent and efficient access to jobs.”

The new route will affect more than 14,000 people who live within a quarter-mile of the route and will be a transit option for more than 5,000 thousand jobs located within a quarter-mile of the route.

One dead, one in critical condition after shooting

One person, a male, is reported dead after a double shooting near 5th and Freeman in Kansas City, Kansas, on Monday night, Jan. 7, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman

According to police, a second victim, a female, was in critical condition from gunshot wounds.

Police were called to the area at 8:38 p.m. Monday and found two persons who had been shot.
