Accidents reported on slick highways

Escaped inmate found in Independence

An inmate who escaped from Lansing Correctional Facility was taken into custody Thursday afternoon in Independence, Missouri.

According to a news release from the Kansas Department of Corrections, the department worked with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to apprehend Cal Henry Green III.

Green was taken into custody in Independence, Missouri, at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A spokesman stated the arrest occurred without incident, and Green was taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Green left Lansing Correctional Facility on Monday without permission, driving away in a dump truck that was later found abandoned at 92nd and Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas.
