Charges dropped against former Schlitterbahn employee

Two charges were dropped on Friday, Nov. 30, against Tyler Miles in connection with the Schlitterbahn waterpark case in Kansas City, Kansas.

The charges that were dropped included one count of interference with law enforcement – concealing evidence, and one count of interference with law enforcement – obstructing official duty.

Also, one count of interference with law enforcement – concealing evidence, was dropped against KC Waterpark Management LLC.

The cases are related to the death of a boy on the former Verruckt water slide at the Kansas City, Kansas, water park in August 2016. Miles was the park’s operations director at the time of the death.

There were no other changes to pending charges in these and related cases, according to the attorney general’s spokeswoman.

Accident at I-635 and Leavenworth Road started with icy roads

An accident at 6:20 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at southbound I-635 near Leavenworth Road started with icy roads, according to a trooper’s report.

Two vehicles were southbound on I-635 when a Honda Civic in the left lane lost control on icy roads, spun out in the lanes of traffic, and struck a Ford F-150 truck in the right lane, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The driver of the Civic, a 22-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman, was injured and taken to a hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the F-150 truck, a 35-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man, was injured and taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated.

BPU to meet Dec. 5

The Board of Public Utilities will meet Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the administration offices, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

On the agenda for the special session at 5 p.m. will be a closed executive session.
