Victim of homicide on South 12th identified

Police have identified the victim of a homicide on Sunday night in the 500 block of South 12th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.

Police said the victim was Vincent S. Trulson, 27, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas.

Police responded to the shooting scene about 8:45 p.m. Aug. 5 and discovered that Trulson had been shot, the spokesman stated. He had life-threatening injuries, and was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.

The homicide is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, which is asking anyone with information to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

The weather service advised caution when outside today.

The temperature high will be near 99, with a southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph today, the weather service said.

A few isolated storms are possible this afternoon, mainly north of the Missouri River, but the best chance for storms will be this evening through Tuesday afternoon, according to the weather service.

Storms will be on and off across the entire area. A few storms could be strong to severe, but widespread severe weather is not expected, the weather service said. The main concerns right now with these storms are strong winds and hail.

Tonight, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 73 with a southwest wind of 5 to 11 mph becoming west northwest after midnight. New rainfall is expected to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Tuesday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 84, with a west southwest wind of around 5 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.
