Samuel Merel Beard, 61, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Vincent Trulson on Aug. 5, according to a court document filed by the Wyandotte County District Attorney.
In addition, Beard faces two counts of aggravated intimidation of a witness in the case, which are felony charges. Prosecutors also charged Beard with drug paraphernalia possession, a misdemeanor charge.
Kansas City, Kansas, police earlier reported that they responded to a shooting scene at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, in the 500 block of South 12th Street, and found that Trulson had been shot. Trulson, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, was taken to a hospital, where he died, police stated at the time.
A Topeka, Kansas, man was sentenced Tuesday to 6.5 years in federal prison for five bank robberies in four states, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.

· U.S. Bank, 25 E. 50 South, Malad City, Idaho, Dec. 14, 2016.
· Wells Fargo Bank, 5 N. State St., Preston, Idaho, Jan. 9, 2017.
McAllister commended the FBI, the Topeka Police Department, law enforcement officers in Missouri, Wyoming and Idaho, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag for their work on the case.
