Homicide victim on Troup identified

A homicide victim in the 7300 block of Troup Avenue has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman.

The victim was Oune Somsanith, 45, a man who lived in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, police stated.

The victim was found by police, who were responding to a shooting call, about 12:28 p.m. Sunday, July 8.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

UG Committee meetings scheduled tonight

Unified Government Committee meetings are scheduled on Monday, July 9, in the fifth floor meeting room at City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

The Neighborhood and Community Development meeting will be at 5 p.m., followed by the Economic Development and Finance Committee meeting.

Several Land Bank items were on the NCD Committee agenda.

The EDF Committee will hear a second-quarter budget financial report, will consider adopting budgetary and financial policies, and will hear an update on the downtown grocery development.
