UG Committee to hear student presentation on Indian Springs site

A Unified Government Committee is scheduled to hear a student presentation about the former Indian Springs mall site at the Economic Development and Finance Committee meeting tonight in the fifth-floor conference room, City Hall, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.

Students from Schlagle High School are scheduled to make a presentation. The EDF meeting is scheduled to start after the Neighborhood and Community Development Committee meeting at 5 p.m. tonight.

At the Neighborhood and Community Development Committee meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, April 30, on the agenda are amendments to the rental license ordinance. The amendments include a new requirement that an applicant shall not own any rental dwelling that has been on the UG’s unfit list for 12 months or more at the time of application or renewal of a rental license.

Land Bank items and a Land Bank rehab program update also are on the NCD agenda.

Hit-and-run reported on I-70

A hit-and-run injury collision was reported at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, April 29, on westbound I-70 near the I-635 exits, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The collision involved a black cab semi truck that left the scene, according to the trooper’s report.

A 44-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman driving a Ford vehicle was injured and was taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

A 16-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, female passenger in the car had a possible injury and was taken to the hospital, the trooper’s report stated.

An 18-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man who was a passenger in the Ford was not injured, according to the report.
