Victim of homicide in 2900 block of Oakland identified

A deceased victim from a shooting on Jan. 1 in the 2900 block of Oakland Avenue has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman.

The victim was Mike Arita-Hurtado, 24, a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, the spokesman stated.

Police were called at 1:22 a.m. Jan. 1 to a shooting in the 2900 block of Oakland Avenue. Officers found a man on the ground deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the spokesman.

The homicide case is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Police identify homicide victim at 9th and Barnett

Kansas City, Kansas, police have identified a homicide victim from Dec. 30 at 9th and Barnett Avenue.

According to a police spokesman, the homicide victim was Casido N. Rivera-Pillado, 28, a Kansas City, Kansas, man.

The police spokesman stated that officers responded to a shooting at the location just after 3:30 p.m. Dec. 30. They discovered someone had transported the victim to a hospital before they arrived, according to the spokesman. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
