Temperatures at a chilly 35 degrees at 9 a.m. Friday will increase to a high near 47 this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s forecast also calls for sunny skies and a light west southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning, according to the weather service.

Tonight, skies will be mostly clear with a low of 35 and a south southwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, according to forecasters.

The weather service says a large trough has swung across the Great Plains, resulting in a clipper system shifting across the Lower Missouri River Valley today. The system was too moisture-starved in this area to produce much of anything, according to the weather service.

As this system exits, there will be warmer temperatures across the region on Saturday, according to the weather service. Temperatures may reach as high as 60 on Saturday, bringing some gulf moisture with it to some areas.

Warm temperatures won’t last, as this circulation from the southwest will eject across the plains area on Sunday morning, setting the stage for the next chance at some precipitation on Sunday morning, according to the weather service.

Saturday’s forecast in Wyandotte County is sunny with a high near 59 and a south southwest wind of 9 to 15 mph, the weather service said.

Saturday night, there is a 40 percent chance of rain after 1 a.m., with increasing clouds. The low wil be around 40 with a south wind of 7 to 11 mph.

Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain before 7 a.m., then showers are likely between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 49 with a south wind of 5 to 7 mph.

Sunday night, the low will be around 35 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Monday, the high will be near 53 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said.

Monday night, it will be mostly clear with a low of 35, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, the high will be near 53 with sunny skies, the weather service said.
