United Way accepting applications from agencies

The United Way of Wyandotte County began accepting applications for agency certification on Oct. 20.

United Way of Wyandotte County requires all agencies that apply for funding must first become a United Way certified agency. The certification process allows donors to be confident that their dollars are being invested in the community wisely. Agency certification ensures that funded agencies are well governed, financially sound, effective, and accountable.

Agency certification application materials are available by contacting Rebecca Nishanian, director of community impact, at [email protected] or by calling 913-371-3674, Ext. 1322.

Agencies applying for certification must be a 501c3 in good standing, be a health or human service organization providing services to Wyandotte County, and their work must align with one of United Way’s impact areas: Education, Income, or Health. Interested agencies that are not currently funded by agency allocations from the community care fund are required to complete the New Agency Certification application and return it to United Way of Wyandotte County. Agencies currently certified by United Way of Greater Kansas City do not need to complete this certification process.

Application materials are due by 3 p.m. Nov. 17. After applications are received, a committee composed of United Way volunteers will review the application materials and conduct agency site visits before determining which agencies qualify for United Way certification.
