Orlando Taylor, 35, was charged with felony murder in the Shannon Keithley case on Thursday afternoon.

Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree Sr. added the charge of felony murder to the other charges of aggravated burglary and rape that were filed earlier, according to a spokesman for the district attorney.

Keithley, 39, was in a black sport utility vehicle that hit a pillar on the I-635 overpass at 5:09 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18. She died after the crash. Keithley had been fleeing from a rapist who broke into a house.

The spokesman for the district attorney’s office said that the additional charge of felony murder was filed on Thursday because additional time was needed to gather evidence in the case.
