Two jump from burning semi on highway

Two men in a burning semi were dangling off I-70 about 1:05 a.m. July 23 when they jumped from the cab and landed on I-635, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol accident report.

The accident started when the Freightliner semi hit the guard rail and then smacked a bridge pillar on I-70 near the Park Drive exit in Kansas City, Kansas, according to the trooper’s report. The cause of the accident was unknown.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Columbia, S.C., and the passenger, a 50-year-old man from Loveland, Colo., were injured and taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated.

Job fair planned Aug. 22

A job fair is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Burke Technical Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

The job fair was announced by U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist.

The first hour of the job fair, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., is only for veterans. The rest of the job fair, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open to the public.

Job seekers do not need to register. According to information from the sponsor, job seekers should dress for the job interview and bring several copies of their resume. There is no fee to attend.
