An injury-accident was reported on westbound I-70 near 78th about 12:20 p.m. Saturday, May 27, as a car hydroplaned, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report.
A Dodge Charger lost control, hydroplaning and fish-tailing out of its lane into another lane, then back into its original lane in front of a Chevy Silverado truck, according to the trooper’s report.
Then the Silverado truck hit the Charger in the rear, the report stated.
The driver of the Charger, a 41-year-old woman from Kansas City, Mo., was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Silverado, a 39-year-old Blue Springs, Mo., woman, was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.

The National Weather Service says rain and the chance of storms will return to the area today.
Activity through noon should remain sub-severe, the weather service said. Storm chances will increase this afternoon, though they should remain relatively brief, according to the weather service.
Some storms could become strong, with isolated severe storms possible, according to the weather service. The primary hazard will be damaging wind gusts, in addition to isolated large hail.
Storm chances could continue off and on through the remainder of the week, leading into the weekend, the weather service said. Additional strong storms are possible Wednesday afternoon across eastern Kansas and west central Missouri, including the Kansas City area.
Today, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80, with a west southwest wind of 5 to 9 mph. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible.
Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 56, with a west wind of 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 80, the weather service said. The wind will be calm, becoming east around 6 mph in the morning.
Wednesday night, expect a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. The low will be around 63, and there will be a southeast wind of 7 mph. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible.
Thursday, there will be a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 83. A southeast wind of 7 to 14 mph will become south southwest in the afternoon, and winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is expected.
Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 66, the weather service said.
The Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department responded to two fires during the past 24 hours.
• One fire was reported around 3 a.m. May 29 in the 300 block of North 35th Street, according to fire officials. The house was fully involved, according to early reports, and firefighters entered the building to make an interior attack. The fire was then knocked down.
• Another fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. May 28 in the 1800 block of North 22nd, according to fire officials. The first crews on the scene stated the fire was located outside of the building.
