Highway over Stranger Creek reopens

K-192 over Stranger Creek in Easton, Kansas, has reopened to all traffic as flood waters have now receded from the pavement, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The location is in Leavenworth County.

According to KDOT, there are no flooded road closures now in the northeast Kansas region.

Crash reported on K-7 at Donahoo Road

An accident was reported at 10:26 a.m. April 4 on northbound K-7 at Donahoo Road in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A Chrysler PT Cruiser was southbound on K-7 trying to make a left turn onto Donahoo Road, wh the Cruiser failed to yield to a Ford Fusion that was northbound on K-7, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Cruiser, a 40-year-old woman from Ottawa, Kansas, had a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Fusion, a 73-year-old man from Independence, Missouri, was taken to the hospital with a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.

A 51-year-old Paola, Kansas, woman who was a passenger in the Fusion was taken to the hospital with a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated.

Two funding opportunities this week for Wyandotte County nonprofits

Some Wyandotte County organizations are seeking grants this week.

The deadline for two funding opportunities is coming up soon in Wyandotte County. One is a public hearing tonight for Community Development Block Grants. Another is the Hollywood Casino-Schlitterbahn grant fund, with an application deadline of Friday, April 7.

The public hearing for Community Development will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Commission Chambers, City Hall, lobby level, 701 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas. It is scheduled during the Unified Government Commission meeting.
