Storm chances return to forecast

Periodic thunderstorm chances could return this evening and last through at least portions of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

At this time the threat for strong storms or widespread heavy rain appears low, the weather service said.

Today, expect a mostly sunny day with a high near 75 and a south wind of 5 to 13 mph, according to the weather service.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 59, the weather service said. There will be a south southwest wind of 5 to 11 mph.

Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and storms, according to the weather service. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 75 and a south southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph.

Thursday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, according to the weather service, with a low of 61. The wind will be from the south southeast at about 7 mph.

Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of precipitation mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 76 with a south wind of 8 to 16 mph, gusting to 29 mph. Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, the low will be around 63 with partly cloudy skies, according to the weather service.

Saturday, there will be a 30 percent chance of showers and storms after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 76.

Saturday night, the chance of rain is 50 percent, with a low of 55, according to the weather service.

Easter Sunday, it will be partly sunny with a high near70, the weather service said.

Sunday night, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with a low of 53, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly cloudy with a high near 70, the weather service said.

Monday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, with a low of 58, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and storms, with a high near 73, the weather service said.

Community meeting planned April 12 on Indian Springs

A community meeting on Indian Springs will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the Neighborhood Resource Center, 4953 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

Community comments about the future uses for the old mall site will be encouraged.

The meeting was planned by Unified Government Commissioners Melissa Bynum, Jane Philbrook and Harold Johnson. Representatives of Lane4 Development, plus Unified Government staff members, are planning to give a presentation and answer questions.

The meeting is open to the public, who will be able to make comments about their opinions on Indian Springs.
