Harmon senior accepted to Missouri college

Juan Medrano, Kansas City, Kansas, a senior at Harmon High School, has been accepted into Culver-Stockton College’s fall 2017 incoming class, according to an announcement from the college.

Medrano also received the President scholarship.

Culver-Stockton College is located in Canton, Mo. It is affiliated with the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

Injury-accident reported on I-70

An injury-accident was reported at 1 a.m. March 4 on I-70 near the 78th Street exit, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report.

A Cadillac DTS that was eastbound on I-70 started to take the exit, then swerved back onto the roadway and hit a wall, the trooper’s report stated.

A 36-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

Tornado watch issued for Wyandotte County

7 p.m. update:
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for northern Leavenworth County and northern Platte County.

At this time, Wyandotte County is not under a tornado warning.

A tornado was reported in Easton, in Leavenworth County, moving northeast at 45 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch from 2:25 p.m. until 10 p.m. today for Wyandotte County.

Surrounding counties also are under a tornado watch, according to the weather service.

Wyandotte County also is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today, and outdoor burning is strongly discouraged today, according to the weather service.

Wyandotte County has now moved into being on the edge of the “enhanced risk” area on the forecast map, a change from this morning.
