Light accumulating snow will overspread the region later this evening, generally after 9 p.m., and last until shortly before sunrise Thursday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Snow will be light and fluffy in nature which will make it easier to clear off surfaces, but areas that see 2 inches to 3 inches of accumulation will likely still see slippery roads, the weather service said.

This will likely slow down the Thursday morning commute significantly. A winter weather advisory is in effect for areas most likely to see the higher snow amounts and adverse effects to travel, according to the weather service.
