Dialogue continues tonight on reducing community violence

A dialogue on reducing community violence will continue at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Patricia Diane Kane Community Center, 3130 N. 122nd St., Kansas City, Kan.

It is sponsored by the Mayor’s Clergy Roundtable.

Those who attend will be in groups of 10 to 15 people with a facilitator assigned to lead the dialogue.

Police officers will join in the small group discussions.

Temperatures were 20 degrees at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Kansas City, Kan., with a wind chill reading of 4 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, a wintry mix of precipitation is possible across the region, with minor snow accumulations possible, the weather service said.

After this system leaves, dangerously cold temperatures are possible early next week, according to the weather service. Lows may fall into the single digits above and below zero Sunday morning and into the single digits above zero Monday morning, the weather service said.

Today’s high will be near 27, with sunny skies and a north wind of 6 to 13 mph, according to the weather service.

Tonight, the low will be around 14 with partly cloudy skies and a north northeast wind of 5 mph becoming calm in the event, the weather service said.

Wednesday, the high will be near 30 with partly sunny skies, according to the weather service. A light northwest wind will become north northwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Wednesday night, the low will be around 14 with a north northwest wind of 6, becoming calm in the evening, the weather service said.

Thursday, the high will be near 27 with mostly cloudy skies, according to the weather service. A light and variable wind will become southeast in the afternoon.

Thursday night’s forecast is mostly cloudy with a low of 24, the weather service said.

Friday, it will be cloudy with a high of 40, according to the weather service.

Friday night, there will be a 30 percent chance of rain before 3 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., followed by a chance of snow after 4 a.m., the weather service said. The low will be around 26.

Saturday, there is a 50 percent chance of snow with a high near 27, according to the weather service.

Saturday night, the low will be around 2 with mostly cloudy skies, the weather service said.

Sunday’s high will be near 17 with sunny skies, according to the weather service.

Sunday night, the low will be around 8, the weather service said.

Monday’s high will be near 29 with sunny skies, according to the weather service.

Westbound I-70 lane closes at 7th Street

The westbound I-70 left lane at 7th Street Trafficway bridge was closed at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 12, for emergency bridge approach pavement repair, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

The lane will reopen at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, weather permitting, according to a KDOT news release.

Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones, the spokesman said. Drivers should expect some delays during peak travel time commutes.
