Public’s help requested in identifying robbery suspects

Kansas City, Kan., police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying suspects who were involved in three aggravated robberies in Kansas City, Kan.

Police are circulating photos of suspects in the three robberies.

The first two robberies were on Dec. 20 and were at 7-Eleven at 2924 S. 47th at 4:43 a.m., and at the Dollar Tree, 1402 S. 42nd at 9:51 p.m.

The third robbery was at Dollar General, 2018 Metropolitan Ave., at 9:51 a.m. Dec. 26, police said.

The first suspect is a man in his 30s, between 5-feet-8 and 5-feet-10, slim build, full beard, mustache, stocking cap, blue jeans and armed with a handgun, police said.

The first suspect was driving a newer model, light-colored 4-door sedan.

The second suspect is a female, police said.

The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the robberies. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.

Victim of fatal accident at 63rd and Parallel identified

The victim of a fatal accident at 63rd and Parallel Parkway at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, has been identified.

The victim was Laresha I. Smith, 29, a resident of Kansas City, Kan., police said.

Officers responding to the accident found a small vehicle overturned on the median of the roadway, police said.

The initial investigation found that a Honda eastbound on Parallel Parkway clipped a Buick in the intersection that was traveling northbound on North 63rd Street, police said.

The driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, according to police. The driver of the Buick was not injured.

The case is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department, and anyone with information may call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
